General Rules & Regulations

NOTICE: All Exhibitors are cautioned to read the following rules and regulations carefully, as some will be strictly enforced without deviation of any kind. All exhibitors must check with committees on judging time as to possible change because of availability of judges.

The Fayette County Fair Association reserves for its Officers and Board of Directors the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations, and to arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions and differences in regard thereto, or otherwise arising out of, connected with or incident to the Fair. The Management reserves the right to amend or add to these rules as it, in its judgment, may seem advisable.  Any person, who violates any of the general rules or special rules as published in this premium list, will forfeit all privileges and premiums won.  The following rules and regulations have been adopted by the Board of Directors:

  1. The Fair will open Thursday at 1:00 p.m., unless postponed by the management, which they hereby claim the right to do, either in part or whole, from any cause whatsoever for the general good of all concerned.
  2. Judging times, deadlines for accepting exhibits and check-out times are clearly stated within the rules for the individual departments of the Fair.
  3. Competition is open to all exhibitors, unless otherwise stated in departmental rules.
  4. The chairman of each department shall attend each set of judges in reviewing the different kinds of articles, to prevent violation of any of the laws or rules of the association.
  5. No person shall be permitted to exhibit any article of which he or she is not the owner, nor will any person be allowed to enter articles out of their appropriate class.
  6. All premiums will be paid not later than 30 days after the close of the Fair. All checks not cashed within 60 days after issuance will be void.
  7. During the Fair, no exhibits in any department will be permitted to be removed from the fairgrounds without written permission. All permits must be obtained from the appropriate committee chairperson or security. Removal of exhibits may only be accomplished with the aid of a motor vehicle during the designated times. No unattended vehicles will be allowed on the fairgrounds except in designated parking areas. All vehicles found parked in unauthorized areas without valid parking authorization will be immediately towed at the owner’s expense.
  8. The members of the press, presidents and secretaries of adjacent fairs are invited to attend our Fair and Exhibition. They are requested to make known their intentions to the treasurer, who will send the required tickets by mail.
  9. The Fair will have limited security personnel on duty 24 hours a day during the Fair beginning on September 1, 2011, and ending at 8:00 p.m. on September 4, 2011.  The association does not however, make any representations as to the availability or adequacy of the security personnel that is provided and will assume no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury which may be suffered by any person or to any property located on the fairgrounds during the Fair dates.
  10. The gates will be open to visitors at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Saturday and Sunday and at 4:00 p.m. Friday. Back gate at livestock entrance opens at 1:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold at this location of entry.
  11. In the event of a rainout or financial failure of the Fair, the Fayette County Fair Association reserves the right to reduce its published premium list to an amount in proportion with the total.
  12. THE FAYETTE COUNTY FAIR WILL NOT BE HELD LEGALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR INJURIES TO ANY PERSONS, PERSONAL PROPERTIES, EXHIBITORS, EXHIBITS OR LIVESTOCK EXHIBITED AT THE FAIR. UNDER TEXAS LAW (CHAPTER 87, CIVIL PRACTICE AND REMEDIES CODE), A LIVESTOCK SHOW SPONSOR OR AN EQUINE PROFESSIONAL IS NOT LIABLE FOR INJURY TO OR THE DEATH OF A PARTICIPANT IN A LIVESTOCK SHOW OR IN EQUINE ACTIVITIES RESULTING FROM THE INHERENT RISKS OF LIVESTOCK SHOW OR EQUINE ACTIVITIES.
  13. No person will be permitted to bring upon the fairgrounds during the Fair any handgun or weapon of any kind. Persons holding concealed handgun permits are also prohibited from bringing any handgun upon the fairgrounds.
  14. Glass containers will not be permitted to be brought upon the fairgrounds at any time.
  15. No animals or pets of any kind will be permitted access to the fairgrounds. Special trained animals used by handicapped persons will be permitted.

Parade

Saturday, September 3rd beginning at 10:30am.

  • Registration begins at 7:30am at City Hall (155 E Colorado St)
  • Judging begins at 9:00am
  • Trophies (1st, 2nd, & 3rd place) awarded in the following categories: Best Out of Town, Most Comical, Best Hometown, Best Junior, Most Original, Best Fair Theme, Best Fayette County Small Town, and Best Western/Wagon/Rider
  • Plaques awarded in the following categories: Best Antique Car, Best Antique Truck, Best Classic Car, Best Classic Truck, Best Hot Rod

BBQ Cook-off

The 2011 Fayette County Fair BBQ Cook-off will be held on Sunday, September 4th by the Fair Pavilion.

Men’s Softball Fall Classic

The Fayette County Fair Men's Softball Fall Classic returns this year, presented by Bud Light. The Classic will kick off at 8:00 pm on Friday, September 2nd and finish the evening of Saturday, September 3rd. All games will be held at the Fayette County Fairgrounds Softball Park and played under ASA Rules.
