About the Parade

Saturday, September 3rd beginning at 10:30am.

  • Registration begins at 7:30am at City Hall (155 E Colorado St)
  • Judging begins at 9:00am
  • Trophies (1st, 2nd, & 3rd place) awarded in the following categories: Best Out of Town, Most Comical, Best Hometown, Best Junior, Most Original, Best Fair Theme, Best Fayette County Small Town, and Best Western/Wagon/Rider
  • Plaques awarded in the following categories: Best Antique Car, Best Antique Truck, Best Classic Car, Best Classic Truck, Best Hot Rod

Parade Rules

  1. Entry deadline: August 26, 2011
    • All entries received after this date will be placed at the end of the parade.
  2. Judging: Begins at 9:00am on Saturday, September 4th
    • All entries must be in place and set up with riders on the entry until judging is completed.
    • Entries will not be judged if participants are not in place.
  3. Parade begins promptly at 10:30am.
    • Drivers and participants must be ready to move by 10:15am.
    • The parade will continue rain or shine, so bring weather-appropriate necessities.
  4. Automobiles and large vehicles must be driven by a properly licensed driver.
  5. The following rules of conduct are expected of all entrants:
    • No excessive drinking.
    • No loud, vulgar, or profane remarks may be made to spectators or other participants.
    • Reports of poor conduct should be brought to the attention of the parade chairman.
    • Failure to adhere to the rules of conduct will result in removal of your entry in this year’s parade, and may prevent you from being allowed to participate in future parades.
  6. The Fayette County Fair Association, its members, and the Fair Parade Chairmen assume no responsibility for accidents or loss of any kind.
  7. Items tossed from parade entries must adhere to the following:
    • No blowpops, pencils or other items with stick pins may be provided (thrown or handed) to spectators or other participants.
    • No items resembling a prescription or over-the-counter drug may be provided to spectators or other participants.
  8. Entrants are expected to communicate all of the above rules to all who might participate in their parade entry.
  9. Exceptions to the above rules may be made only with the approval of the parade committee.
